Bamboo and Ink

PictureErskine-Jones
Participants  make their own bamboo dip pens during this workshop. The bamboo is cut to shape using a craft knife and then finished with sand paper.
With this pen you will be able to experiment making a  wide variety of marks using different angles of the nib as well as the side of the pen.
The bamboo nib is sympathetic to the paper, unlike metal which is hard and tends to scratch the surface.
Drawing will be done using inks provided. Once the drawing is dry washes can be applied using watercolour paints or washes of thinned acrylic paints. Homemade walnut ink will also be available, which can give lovely washes.

Please note: Participants will need to be comfortable using a strong craft knife to shape their bamboo pen.

(It will show in your email as Erskine-Jones Fine Art)
